Nutrition and Health

This qualification aims to:

  • focus on the study of nutrition and health
  • offer breadth and depth of study, incorporating a key core of knowledge

The objectives of this qualification are to enable the learner to gain an understanding of:

  • the principles of healthy eating and the role of food in maintaining health planning and achieving a healthy diet
  • how an individual’s dietary requirements change throughout their life
  • food labelling and the ability to use information from food labels
  • eating disorders
  • the role of a healthy diet for weight management
  • the principles of food safety in a home environment

  • Unit 1: Explore principles of healthy eating
  • Unit 2: Consider nutritional needs of a variety of individuals
  • Unit 3: Use food and nutrition information to plan a healthy diet
  • Unit 4: The principles of weight management
  • Unit 5: Understanding eating disorders
  • Unit 6: Principles of food safety for the home environment

Level 2 Online Courses

Our FREE* online and distance learning courses are flexible so they can fit around work and personal commitments. They take up to 12 weeks to complete and are nationally recognised Level 2 qualifications.

Level 3 Online Courses

Our Level 3 online courses are ideal for those who want to start a career in a specific field. As part of the National Skills funding, this course is free to those aged 24 and over if you do not currently hold a level 3 qualification. Alternatively, you can pay in three equal monthly instalments, or you can apply for an Advanced Learner Loan https://www.gov.uk/advanced-learner-loan

Once you have submitted your application, it will be reviewed by the Distance Learning Team.

You will be assigned an assessor who will contact you to discuss your programme, answer any questions you may have about the course, and arrange suitable dates for your learning to take place.
