Foundation Learning
Duration: 1 year
Available at Nuneaton and Wigston Campuses
Foundation Learning programmes are designed to support students in developing the skills, confidence and independence needed for further study, employment and everyday life. Through a personalised learning programme, students will develop practical, social and employability skills while working towards individual goals and aspirations.
The programme provides a supportive and inclusive learning environment where students can develop their potential and prepare for successful progression into further education, supported internships, employment or independent living.
When students attend their interview, they will be able to discuss their goals and what they want to achieve. They will then be placed on one of the following routes:
- Pathway to Independence
- Pathway to Vocation
- Pathway to Work
- Pathway to Social Development
Throughout your studies, you will develop a range of valuable skills, knowledge and behaviours including:
- Personal and social development
- Independent living skills
- Communication and interpersonal skills

Foundation Learning programmes are designed for students who would benefit from additional support to develop their skills, confidence and independence.
Entry requirements and appropriate pathways will be discussed during the interview process, where tutors will consider previous learning, support needs, aspirations and future goals.
Our specialist staff will work with students and families to ensure the most suitable programme is identified.
Students benefit from learning in supportive environments designed to promote independence and personal development.

This course is a Study Programme which consists of:

- Preparation for Adulthood
*If you have not already achieved a GCSE pass at grade 4 or above in English and Maths, you will study Maths and/or English as an integral part of your college programme.
Programmes are personalised to ensure each student receives the support and opportunities needed to achieve their goals.
We offer a range of support services to help you succeed during your studies, including:
Courses are free for 16-18 who have not studied higher than GCSE's, and for 19-24 with an EHCP. Even if you have studied a different course at college or sixth form we may still be able to help. Speak to the admissions team for more information. There maybe free or reduced costs for adults, contact the admissions team to see if you are eligible.
Once you have submitted your application, you will be invited to attend an interview with one of our specialist tutors.
