ESOL Awards Skills For Life

This course is designed to improve English language skills for speakers of other languages, helping learners develop the essential communication skills required for everyday life, employment, and further education in the UK.  As an Ascentis – approved centre, we offer structured progression through the Entry Levels to Level 2, focusing on real-life language skills across speaking, listening, reading and writing.

Graduates can progress to higher ESOL levels, further education, or employment opportunities, gaining confidence to engage in English-speaking environments.

NEW* ESOL in the workplace: Available for employers to arrange group sessions for their employees, where English is not their first language*, in the workplace, at a college campus or in a community setting. This course helps employees develop essential communication skills, including reading, writing, speaking and listening. These skills are crucial for clear workplace communication, report writing, customer interaction and teamwork. NWSLC provides tailored courses to improve confidence and efficiency, ensuring employees can meet job requirements and progress in their careers.

The ESOL Skills for Life course is divided into 3 core modules, each focused on a specific skill area essential for language development: Speaking and Listening, Reading, and Writing. Each module is available at levels from Entry1 through Level2 and can be taken as an individual module, allowing students to progress in each skill area independently.

• Applicants should have a basic understanding of English, however no formal qualifications are required, making the course accessible to all learners.
• A minimum age of 19 years.

Applicants must possess a valid BRP or another form of identification confirming the identity and residency in the UK

The course is geared toward practical language development to support employability, social integration and independence in English-speaking environments.

It supports progression into employment, with opportunities for graduates to move on to higher ESOL levels, further education, or work, gaining the confidence to engage effectively in English-speaking settings.
