Level 1 Bricklaying
Duration: 1 year
This introductory course is designed for students looking to start a career in the construction industry. You will develop essential practical bricklaying skills while gaining an understanding of construction methods, health and safety requirements, and workplace expectations. The course provides an excellent foundation for progression to higher-level qualifications or apprenticeships.
Level 2 Bricklaying
Duration: 1 year
This advanced programme builds on existing skills and knowledge, enabling students to develop greater technical competence in bricklaying and construction. You will undertake more complex practical projects, develop industry-standard techniques and gain the confidence required for employment or further study within the construction sector.
Throughout your studies, you will develop industry-relevant skills, knowledge and behaviours including:
- Bricklaying techniques and construction methods
- Building solid and cavity wall structures
- Setting out and measuring construction projects
- Interpreting drawings and specifications
- Safe use of hand and power tools Health, safety and welfare in construction
- Understanding construction materials
- Working accurately and efficiently
- Communication and teamwork skills
- Professional behaviours expected by employers
Level 2 students will also develop more advanced practical and technical skills, preparing them for employment within the industry.

Entry requirements vary depending on the course and level of study. For practical vocational areas such as Construction, previous qualifications, practical aptitude and career aspirations will be discussed during the interview process to ensure you are placed on the programme best suited to your goals.

*If you have not already achieved a GCSE pass at grade 4 or above in English and Maths you will study Maths and/or English as an integral part of your college programme.

Courses are free for 16-18 who have not studied higher than GCSE's, and for 19-24 with an EHCP. Even if you have studied a different course at college or sixth form we may still be able to help. Speak to the admissions team for more information. There maybe free or reduced costs for adults, contact the admissions team to see if you are eligible.
